Managing partner of the Antika Law Firm, Doctor of Law, Alexey Kot and partner, juris doctor, Maksym Korchagin joined the discussion on “What university graduates do the legal market need”, which was held by Legal High School together with the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.
The event was joined by partners of leading law firms and heads of legal departments of well-known domestic and foreign companies. The event discussed the inquiries of the legal business, leading Ukrainian companies regarding the knowledge and skills that a law graduate should have.
“In parallel with the management of the Antika law firm I teach at the Faculty of Law of Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. It is often heard that today future lawyers lack practical knowledge. Perhaps it is worth shifting the balance of courses taught at law faculties towards practice-oriented subjects. It would also be good to involve legal practitioners in teaching. Obviously, this would be facilitated by a certain simplification of the model of the educational process. I think we can start by involving practitioners in the form of master classes for students – so that future lawyers can find out what the profession really is, what they need to know, what to focus on”, – said the managing partner of Antika, Doctor od LAw Alexey Kot during his speech.
