On October 30, 2013 the Ukrainian Bar Association held a roundtable meeting “Cost recovery for advocate services in economic proceedings: theory and practice”. The news topic for the event was adoption of the decision by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine related to the case on cost recovery for legal services in economic proceedings. Practicing lawyers, advocates and judges gathered together in order to discuss issues relating to this field.

Issues on distinction between terms “legal advice”, “advocate services” and “other legal services” as well as on grounds and limits of cost recovery for legal services in economic proceeding were placed for participants’ consideration. The participants also discussed the status of a specialist in the field of law in the economic proceeding and the problems of its legal regulation, and they drew a parallel with foreign practice of representing clients in courts and providing legal support.
