On July 10, 2014 the Resolution of the Plenum of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine approved the new wording of the Regulation on the Scientific and Advisory Council of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine and defined its membership. According to this resolution Alexey Kot was elected as a member of the above stated Council.

The Scientific and Advisory Council examines the issues arising within the judicial activity, and on the basis of the requirements of law and scientific analysis of judicial practice develops and delivers to the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine the proposals on draft resolutions of the plenum of the Court on application of substantive and procedural law, on validity of laws and other legal acts of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, legal acts of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as well as on official interpretation of the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine.
